Products & Compatibility

Are your products compatible with all van models?

Our products are designed to fit specific van models — Sprinter, Transit, and Promaster. Please check the product description or contact us with your van model, year, and wheelbase to confirm compatibility before purchasing.

What if I have a Dually?

Wall panel kits fit with no modifications needed. Our traditional-size wheel well boxes are not compatible with a Dually, however if you add a note to your order at checkout we will create a custom product for your build for a small additional charge. If you are purchasing a floor kit, select the Dually configuration option or add it to your order notes at no extra cost.

I have a Mercedes Sprinter CREW. Will your products work?

Yes! Please add a note to your order stating you have a Sprinter CREW so we can update it. There will be a small customization fee. Sprinter CREW installations require self-tappers for the upper panels, which are shortened to sit above the windows only.

Are Serg Supply cabinets compatible with my van?

Our cabinets are designed to work across the major high-roof van platforms: Mercedes Sprinter 144 and 170, Ford Transit 148, and Ram Promaster 136 and 159. Most cabinets mount to the factory rivet nut holes in the wall using machine screws, so no new holes are required in the van body. If your van has a low or medium roof, reach out before ordering as interior height affects cabinet fitment.

Installation & Services

What is the Foundation Kit and what does it include?

The Foundation Kit is our complete van interior foundation: 3M Thinsulate insulation, CNC subfloor and finish flooring, ceiling kit with puck lighting, wall panels, a Maxx Air Fan, and a full pre-wired electrical foundation including GFCI outlets, USB chargers, shore power inlet, solar gland, and 4AWG alternator wiring. On Sprinter high roof, we also include the GoCode trim kit, Stow Step, and floor threshold. It is the starting point for every professional installation we do.

How long does a professional installation take?

A Foundation Kit installation at our Auburn, CA facility typically takes 3 to 4 weeks depending on scope and current scheduling.

Full custom builds with cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, and solar can vary widely based on the complexity of the concept.

We provide a firm timeline estimate during your consultation and communicate any changes as we go.

Do I need to bring my van to Auburn for installation?

Yes. Our installation facility is located at 13395 New Airport Road, Suite D, Auburn CA 95602. All professional installations are performed on-site. If you are shipping your van or flying in, contact us and we will coordinate drop-off and pickup logistics with you.

What order should I install everything in my van conversion?

We recommend this build sequence:

  1. Planning & design
  2. Insulation
  3. Electrical rough-in (wire runs)
  4. Plumbing rough-in (if applicable)
  5. Window installation
  6. Wall & ceiling panels
  7. Flooring
  8. Cabinetry & furniture
  9. Electrical finish (outlets, lights, switches)
  10. Final details & testing
How do I install benches?

We recommend fastening benches into your subfloor. There are two approaches:

  • Option 1 — Shoot into the aftermarket subfloor: Requires a load-bearing floor of at least 0.75″ thickness. Use screws with length equal to floor thickness plus 0.5″.
  • Option 2 — Rivet nuts into the vehicle floor: Use stainless steel rivet nuts (rust-proof hardware). A minimum of two is required; four is ideal.

Take care not to drill into your gas tank, fuel lines, or electrical components.

Can I install products myself or should I hire a professional?

Every kit we sell is the same product used in our professional installations, so DIY is absolutely an option. Kits ship with detailed PDF installation guides and we have video walkthroughs on our YouTube channel. Our team is also reachable by phone and email during business hours if you get stuck.

That said, the complexity of your build matters. Windows, basic cabinetry, and interior panels are straightforward for most DIYers. Electrical systems, plumbing, and structural modifications benefit from professional experience. We offer professional installation at our Auburn, CA facility and can connect you with certified builders through our Builder Network.

Electrical & Plumbing

What electrical system do I need for a van conversion?

Most van conversions use a 12V DC system with a lithium battery bank, solar panels, and a DC-to-DC charger to top off from the alternator while driving. The size of your system depends on your power draw. Our Foundation Kit includes a fully pre-wired electrical foundation — shore power inlet, solar gland, and 4AWG alternator wiring — so you can drop in your battery and inverter without starting from scratch.

How much solar do I need?

Start by calculating your daily watt-hours. A typical build with a fridge, fan, lighting, and device charging uses roughly 100–150Ah per day. For most builds, 200–400W of rooftop solar paired with a 200Ah lithium battery is a solid starting point. We confirm panel count and layout during consultation based on your specific van, fan placement, and any A/C plans.

What gauge wire should I use for my electrical system?

Wire gauge depends on amperage and run length. Common guidelines:

  • 14 AWG — 15A circuits (lights, USB chargers)
  • 12 AWG — 20A circuits (fans, small appliances)
  • 10 AWG — 30A circuits (solar charge controllers)
  • 6–8 AWG — High-draw items (inverters, refrigerators)

Always calculate voltage drop for your specific run length and use marine-grade tinned copper wire for long-term durability.

How large of a fresh water tank do you recommend for the wheel well cabinets?

We recommend the over-the-wheel 25-gallon tank. It tends to be the easiest to fit and provides good capacity for most van conversions.

Insulation

What insulation does Serg Supply use?

Our Foundation Kit includes 3M Thinsulate SM600L, an automotive-grade acoustic and thermal insulation used by vehicle manufacturers. It does not retain moisture, does not require a vapor barrier, and installs cleanly without spray foam or fiberglass. We use it throughout the walls, ceiling, and doors.

How do I prevent condensation inside my van?

Condensation happens when warm, moist air meets a cold surface. The best defense is a quality roof vent (like the Maxx Air Fan included in every Foundation Kit), proper insulation coverage with no cold bridging, and materials that do not trap moisture. Cooking, breathing, and wet gear are the main moisture sources — active ventilation while you sleep and cook makes the biggest difference.

Flooring

What flooring options does Serg Supply offer?

Our Foundation Kit includes your choice of Loncoin Flecks II vinyl flooring or Lonridge rigid vinyl planks, both installed over a CNC-cut plywood subfloor. We also offer a 2Tec2 premium carpet option for an additional charge. All options are water-resistant and designed for the constant flexing and temperature swings of a vehicle interior.

Do I need a subfloor before installing flooring?

Yes. A plywood subfloor gives your finish flooring a flat, stable surface and helps level out the factory ribs in the van floor. Our subfloor kits are CNC-cut to match your specific van model and wheel well configuration. They install using factory holes wherever possible to avoid drilling into the van floor.

Materials & Customization

What wood finish options are available?

Our standard finish is Prefinished Maple, a durable laminate with a warm natural wood look. We also offer Prefinished Bamboo, Satin White, Satin Black, Folkstone Grey, and Black Hex Ply. For wall panels, Marathon Tweed upholstery is available as a premium upgrade. Finish availability may vary by product.

Can I modify the dimensions of cabinets, wheel well boxes, or benches?

Sometimes, for an additional fee. Please call us at (916) 624-7776 to discuss your requirements so we can get the details right before production.

Can I order custom material combinations for wall panels?

Yes. The cost difference depends on the materials chosen. A popular upgrade is an unfinished birch and bamboo combination. You can also mix materials between upper and lower panels, or use different door materials from the cabinet body. Contact us to discuss options.

What is the hex plywood?

It is a black phenolic resin coating on a Baltic birch plywood core. While not the lightest option, it is superior in durability, water resistance, and chemical resistance — a popular choice for areas that see extra wear or exposure.
